Linen Sarees

What's the difference between our linen sarees?

Linen is the fabric we love most for Indian summers: light, breathable and softer with every wash. Our linen sarees come in two families, so you can pick the feel you want.

Pure Linen by Linen sarees use linen in both the warp and the weft, for a crisp, airy drape. Handloom Linen Blends pair linen with muslin, tissue, silk, matka or cotton, adding sheen, softness or texture.

Pure Linen Sarees – Linen by Linen

What is Linen by Linen?

A Linen by Linen saree is woven with linen threads in both directions, the warp and the weft. Nothing else is mixed in, so you get the true character of linen: a crisp, airy drape that keeps you cool through Indian summers and grows softer with every wash.

Our pure linen sarees are finely woven at 120 count and finished with hand embroidery, from allover resham French knots to zardozi pearl work. Light enough for everyday wear, special enough for festive days.

Care: dry cleaning is recommended, especially to protect the embroidery.

Handloom Linen Blends

What's in a linen blend?

Our handloom linen blends start with linen and add a second thread for a different character. Silk linen brings a soft sheen, muslin adds a featherlight feel, tissue gives a festive shimmer, matka adds a rich slubbed texture, and cotton keeps things easy and soft.

Each saree is woven on the handloom, often with traditional Jamdani weaving or woven motifs such as lotus and swan. They drape more fluidly than pure linen while staying light and breathable.

Organza

What is organza?

Organza has a sheer, crisp look that suits festive afternoons and evening celebrations. It drapes lightly, holds its pleats well and catches the light softly without feeling heavy. Every organza saree at Narirang is chosen for the quality of its fabric and its finishing.

Our organza sarees are finished with Resham French knot embroidery. An artisan stitches each knot by hand with silk thread, so small floral patterns stand out on the sheer base. Because the work is done by hand, no two pieces are exactly alike.

An organza saree suits weddings, receptions, pujas and festive gatherings, and it is still comfortable to wear for hours. Pair it with a contrast blouse for a modern look, or a matching one for a classic drape.

Care: dry clean only, to protect the hand embroidery. Store folded in a soft cotton or muslin cloth.

Jamdani

What is Jamdani?

Jamdani is one of India's most admired handloom techniques, with roots in Bengal going back centuries. The motifs are not printed or stitched on afterwards. The weaver adds each one by hand, thread by thread, while the fabric is still on the loom, which is why they seem to float.

Traditionally Jamdani is woven on fine cotton muslin, so the motifs sit on a light, almost sheer ground. Because every motif is placed by hand, the work is slow, and no two pieces are ever exactly alike.

You can tell real Jamdani because the motifs are part of the cloth itself. They are not printed on top or embroidered afterwards, so they won't peel or wash away.

At Narirang we choose Jamdani for the fineness of the weave and how clearly the motifs come through. Our current Jamdani sarees pair a linen silk handloom body with a pallu woven in Jamdani muslin, light enough for a long day and elegant enough for festivals and family functions.

Care: dry clean, or an easy gentle wash. Store folded in soft cloth and refold now and then along new lines.

Cotton

Why choose handloom cotton?

A good handloom cotton saree is one of the easiest pleasures to wear. It is light, breathable and grows softer with every wash, which makes it ideal for India's warm days, for the office and for relaxed family occasions.

Our cotton edit includes Bengal cotton weaves, known for their fine texture, crisp drape and classic borders. Each saree is handwoven, so the weave carries the small, natural variations that set handloom apart from machine-made fabric.

Wear it simply with a cotton blouse for everyday ease, or dress it up with silver jewellery for a puja or a festive lunch. Prices start from ₹799, so it is easy to build a wardrobe of everyday favourites.

Care: dry clean, or an easy gentle wash in cold water. Dry in the shade to keep the colours bright.

Handwork

Resham French Knot

What is French knot embroidery?

French knots are tiny raised dots of embroidery, made by wrapping thread around the needle and stitching it back into the fabric. Worked by hand in soft resham thread, hundreds of knots come together to form flowers, vines and borders with a textured finish you can feel.

Because every knot is made by hand, no two sarees are exactly alike. We pair French knot work with light fabrics such as pure linen and organza, so the embroidery stands out without weighing the saree down.

Care: dry clean to keep the knots neat and raised.

Zardozi & Pearl Work

What is zardozi and pearl work?

Zardozi is a centuries-old art of hand embroidery, once reserved for royal garments. Artisans work metallic threads, beads and fine details into the fabric by hand, building up rich, textured patterns that catch the light.

At Narirang, our zardozi sarees pair this handwork with delicate pearl detailing on pure linen. The result is a saree that feels celebratory without the weight of a heavy silk, so it is comfortable to wear through a long function.

A zardozi and pearl work saree suits weddings, receptions, sangeets and festive evenings. Keep the jewellery simple and let the embroidery take centre stage.

Care: dry clean is best for embroidered pieces. Store flat or loosely folded in a soft cloth, away from moisture, so the pearls and threadwork stay intact.

Woven Motifs

What are woven motifs?

Woven motifs are designs created on the loom itself, not printed or embroidered afterwards. The weaver adds extra threads while weaving, so lotuses, swans and flowers become part of the fabric.

That makes the motifs long-lasting and gives them a gentle depth that catches the light. In our collection you will find lotus motifs on silk linen and Jamdani motifs on fine muslin pallus.

Care: dry cleaning is recommended. For home washing, hand wash gently in cold water and dry in the shade.

Everyday

What makes a saree good for every day?

An everyday saree should be easy to wear from morning to evening: light, breathable and simple to care for. That is why our everyday edit leans on cotton and cotton linen, fabrics that stay comfortable in Indian weather and soften with each wash.

Wear them with a simple blouse for work or errands, or add a little jewellery for a lunch or get-together.

Festive

How do you choose a festive saree?

Festive sarees carry a little more shine and detail: hand embroidery such as zardozi pearl work and French knots, organza with a soft sheen, or a Jamdani pallu that falls beautifully over the shoulder.

They are still light enough to wear through a long day of pujas, family visits and celebrations. Pair them with a matching or contrast blouse and your favourite jewellery.

Wedding & Celebrations

What makes a saree wedding-ready?

Looking for the right saree for a wedding, reception or family celebration? This edit brings together handwoven and hand-embroidered sarees that look special but are comfortable to wear through long functions.

You will find pure organza sarees with hand embroidery and graceful silk linen drapes, all chosen for their craft and finish. They are an elegant choice for wedding guests, close family and anyone who wants to stand out without the weight of a heavy bridal saree.

Style them with statement jewellery for an evening reception, or keep it light for a daytime ceremony. Each piece is handpicked, and because many are hand-finished, no two are exactly alike.

Care: dry clean, or an easy gentle wash for lighter pieces. Store folded in a soft cloth.
